Editorial Policy

LowCarb Avenue is a physician-founded low carb bakery in Frederick, Maryland. We publish articles about low carb eating, bread and nutrition. This page explains how we write, check and update them.

Who writes our articles

Our articles are written by our own team and carry the writer’s name. You can see each writer’s other articles on their author page.

Where our facts come from

We base health and nutrition statements on primary sources, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s FoodData Central (USDA), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and peer-reviewed studies. We list the sources at the end of each article.

Nutrition numbers for our own breads come from our product labels. Numbers for other foods come from USDA FoodData Central or the maker’s label, and we say which.

Medical review

We are adding physician review to our health articles. When an article has been reviewed, it shows the reviewer’s name, credentials and the review date.

What our articles are not

Our articles are general information, not medical advice. If you have diabetes or another health condition, talk with your doctor or a registered dietitian before changing your diet.

Our products

We sell the breads we write about. When an article mentions our products, we use the same facts and label numbers as anywhere else, and we do not claim that any food treats or prevents a disease.

Updates and corrections

We review our main articles regularly and show the date of the last update. If you find a mistake, please tell us through our contact page and we will check it and correct it.
